Step 1:
To look slimmer in pants, avoid pants with pleats in the front. They tend to add unnecessary bulk and draw attention to excess weight in the tummy.
Step 2:
Choose pants with a slight flair in the legs. This will help to balance out wider hips and give an overall slimming effect.
Step 3:
Wear dark pants when possible. Dark colors cause an area to recede in size. You'll give the illusion of being slimmer.
Step 4:
Wear a slight heel with pants. Flat shoes tend to shorten your legs and give a stockier appearance to the lower body. Instead, choose a two to three inch heel.
Step 5:
Coordinate hose and shoes with your pants color. Keep the lower body as monochromatic as possible from waist to toes for a slimming effect.
Step 6:
Avoid high waisted pants as they can make you look stocky. Instead choose ones that start about an inch below your navel.
